In a bid to empower CBOs through EU-CSO Small Grant Scheme, KADDRO-SL in collaboration with CDHR engages CBOs on Information sharing Session.

With the increased need to strengthen Community Based Organizations CBOs through small grants from the European Union, KADDRO-SL the lead Consortium Organization held a successful Information Sharing Session with CBOs in a bid to dialogue the guidelines for the Small Grants Scheme released on the 18th May, 2021.

The Information Sharing was held at the Kambia District Council Hall with stakeholders in attendance to grace a fruitful session.

The small grants scheme for Community Based Organizations (CBOs) is a component of the European Union (EU) funded project titled “Empowered Kambia Civil Society, Women, and Youth Influence Agricultural Production and Sustainable Income Development” aims to achieve in particular, on engaging Women and Youth who are marginalized, equitable growth, poverty reduction, and increase women and young people’s voice.

Speaking in the opening session of the program, Executive Director, KADDRO-SL, Mr. Mohamed A. M. Mansaray made the following presentation “The call only focus on supporting item four, supporting the implementation of CDHR, which is item four (4) from the thematic area in the Small Grants Scheme”,

“We’re looking for the openness and fairness in the implementation of activities”, Mr. Joseph Kargbo, Development and Program Officer, Kambia District Council.

“We want to see huge impact on the people of Kambia after the implementation”, Gibril Gottor, Chairman, CSO, Kambia.

The Marketing and Business Development Officer, Mr. Joseph Kamara in a Power Point Presentation briefed participants on the CBO Application Guidelines. He explained that CBOs applying for the grant are expected to fulfill listed eligibility criteria to be considered for award.

Mr. Conteh, Project Officer, CDHR, gave an insight on the thematic areas of specification. In his presentation, he mentioned the following thematic Areas can could be funded.

  1. Gender Equality
  2. Social Welfare
  3. Peace Building
  4. Child Rights
  5. COVID-19
  6. Civic Education

Madam Kadiatu M. Sankoh, Project Officer, KADDRO EU-CSO also briefed participants on the names and number of communities the EU-CSO is operational single out Munu Thallan the only Chiefdom not captured.

Questions and answers were entertained with a huge turn out from participants.

District Coordinator KADDRO, Madam Adama M. Kanu gave an insight of what is entailed in the Proposal Template for the consumption of CBOs.

On the closing note, the Finance and Admin Manager, KADDRO, Mr. Mohamed Sallieu Bangura furthered his presentation by an outlook of Budgeting, Ineligibility and Eligible Cost.

Application deadline for the small grant scheme is 8th  June, 2021.
